Comfort Inn & Suites Clinton - Jackson West

Both the front desk woman and the woman serving breakfast were wonderful. Breakfast was better than most, with donuts, croissants, and ham. Our room was fine, though the halls had a fairly strong room scent, but it wasn’t enough to give me a headache. We’re diamond members, and they don’t provide a snack or drink. I also don’t understand why hotels don’t leave blankets on the beds or keep any available at the desk. That’s ridiculous.

We booked four nights, and I’d tell people to spend the extra money and stay somewhere else. The beds felt like sleeping on a box, and there weren’t blankets in the room, so we had to get the only one at the front desk. The linen smelled soiled. When we left it outside the door, we were told we had to carry it downstairs ourselves. The breakfast woman started putting food away early. The indoor heated pool and hot tub weren’t heated, and when the AC compressor stopped working the last night, she didn’t seem very concerned.

The room’s whirlpool and bathtub paint was peeling, the whirlpool button was hanging out of its socket, the light above the tub was out with a broken switch, and the whirlpool’s cold water didn’t work. The next day the tub bathroom was clogged from plumbing trouble, and since it hadn’t been cleaned, we couldn’t shower. We were told maintenance had left and there were no rooms to move us to. The whole weekend the answer was that they were sold out, so nothing could be done, with no credit offered. I heard the owner, Mr Lee, say there was nothing he could do about the hotel’s problems and no credit could be given. This place needs to be shut down. It’s old and out of compliance. The trouble started before we even checked in. The property has a pay-at-hotel option, but my card was charged the night before. The next morning I was told to pay in advance or lose the reservation because it was a busy weekend and the owner didn’t want to lose money. At check-in the lobby was full of people whose keys weren’t working, so the process took a long time. My stay was horrible, and the owner Mr Lee is a narcissist.

The desk woman was incredibly sweet and moved us to another room because she agreed the first smelled bad. That second room reeked of bleach and mildew, and the owner was apparently trying to cover the mildew smell. I pulled back the sheets to check for bed bugs and found a mattress with strange colors and stains that looked like it came from a dump. There was no way I was sleeping on it. We’d come for a school convention. Right away in the first room, there was a horrible mildew or mold smell, the toilet wouldn’t flush, the walls had dark damp stains at the corners, and the window nearly fell out of its casing when we opened it for air. We went back to the desk and said we couldn’t stay and breathe that all night. We explained both rooms’ problems to the owner, Mr. Lee, and showed him a photo of the mattress. He just shrugged and asked what we wanted to do. Our school leader had booked the rooms and was going to contact them about a refund, but, unsurprisingly after reading these reviews, the owner refused to refund any of the rooms that went unused because of the disgusting conditions. I could tell the wonderful receptionist deals with this all the time because the owners won’t fix anything. How is this place not shut down? If I could give zero stars, I would. SHUT THIS PLACE DOWN. MR. LEE, SHAME ON YOU FOR NOT REFUNDING OUR GROUP.
