OYO Hotel Kings at Clovis

Andy welcomed me warmly when I came to check in, and the staff have been very accommodating so far. The rooms are small, but for what they cost, they're better than plenty of other places I've seen. The hotel is going through renovations, and I know it's hard for a motel to keep thriving in this economy. Some of the earlier reviews seem pretty harsh. I'm just a traveler starting my stay, with no connection or bias toward the place, and I think people can be mean without understanding the situation. It takes a community to help people who are in debt get back on their feet. Thanks, Kings hotel, for giving us somewhere to sleep without spending a fortune. Kindness still matters.

I got my money back quickly and had no trouble dealing with the front desk person, who didn't seem surprised by the problem. First, the key I was given wouldn't open the assigned room, so I had to go back and get another one for a different room. That key opened a musty, dirty room with a dead cockroach on the floor. I went straight back to the office and left. This place is disgusting, and I feel bad for anyone who has to work there.

We'd called yesterday to confirm our reservations, but when we arrived, we were told the hotel had been sold and our bookings were no longer valid. They also said the charges couldn't be put back on our credit card. We were away from our home state and had booked two nights, one on the way to our destination and another for the return trip. This is insane. Don't waste your time here.

I stayed for around 10 months while saving money before leaving the Air Force, and I'd choose this place over any other hotel nearby without hesitation. The room could have used new carpet, but housekeeping kept it sanitized to a very high standard. The front desk staff were incredibly accommodating and always did their best to handle whatever I needed. I couldn't have asked for a better place to stay, and I'd definitely return.
