Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Clute - Lake Jackson by IHG

The room smelled VERY strongly of pets, like a cat, even though the sign at the front desk says it's a pet-free hotel. The toilet took hours to refill enough to flush again, and the fridge wasn't cold. On the second night, the bathroom light flickered, dimmed, and never got bright again. Breakfast wasn't good and didn't have many choices.

For the price, I wasn't impressed. The room floors were sticky and oily, and even after moving out of the room that flooded, the floors in the new room were just as bad. I think the kids' room flooded because of the AC, though the maintenance guy said rainwater came through the wall. The hot tub seemed like it had never been cleaned of dead skin. Nasty. The keycards kept needing to be reset, and they wouldn't let us back in from the pool area. The showerhead didn't look like it had ever been cleaned either. The free breakfast was terrible, the pancake machine didn't work right, the milk had soured, and the orange juice tasted watered down. I've had better eggs deployed in the Army. I would NOT recommend this place, and I may never stay in Holiday Inn again.

After a whole day at the beach, we came to check in and found out they no longer had a room for us, even though I'd reserved online and called ahead to ask for a room near my friends. It was extremely frustrating. Vicky helped us and said my card wouldn't be charged since I never checked in, but she couldn't give me a receipt and wrote down a cancellation number instead. A few days later, my card was charged after all. I'm very disappointed and will never stay here. The elevator was completely out of order too.

I stayed two nights in a nice, quiet place, with a comfortable bed and a decent chair to relax in. Breakfast had decent options, and restaurants weren't too far away. It was a bit pricey. There could've been more TV channels, but I was able to stream from my device.
