Quality Inn Clute Freeport

Our first visit with the family last year was okay, but this time was quite different. The room smelled awful, though I couldn’t tell what the smell was, and the bathroom wasn’t very clean. We didn’t sleep well, probably because of the odor. Customer service was alright, and both the hot breakfast and pool seemed okay.

It was a peaceful, quiet stay, and the staff were very polite. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The whole experience was amazing!

At breakfast, an enormous cockroach struggled near my children and died by their feet. Their appetites were gone. An older woman swept it up after I told the desk, though she complained she was already off the clock. Earlier, my six-year-old spotted a roach on the entertainment center, and it disappeared into a hole. Then I found a dead one in the freezer while putting food away. I asked for housekeeping at 12:23 pm, but the desk said they’d left for the day and could come tomorrow. I refused and was moved to another room. During the move I noticed my medication was missing. I searched my luggage, the room several times, and my vehicle before asking the desk whether anyone had entered. They said no, but couldn’t prove it because the camera operator wasn’t onsite and wouldn’t return until the next day. Then the bathtub was clogged when I tried to take a hot shower to avoid stressing my children more while I was in pain. I asked about the missing property and canceling the rest of my reservation. The desk said they needed to hear from Hotels.com. Hotels.com was willing to refund the unused day tomorrow, but said there was no manager available, so I’d have to wait longer. I was initially asking for a refund for that day, but a full refund would be the best gesture. The website pictures must be from somewhere else, because this location is a Super 8 with a Quality Inn logo. I wouldn’t recommend it to a homeless person. Expect theft, roaches, and awful plumbing.

We only stayed one night, and the location was handy, under 15 minutes from Surfside beach. Check-in was quick and the front desk was polite. The room was very outdated and not clean, and there were roaches.
