The Halloween weekend was a blast. My toddler had fun at the ice cream social, karaoke, mini golf, and pumpkin painting, and we all loved the movie in the park. The haunted trail was enjoyable, and the actors were respectful. I’d love to see more movie nights, and we’re already hoping to come back next year. The park has a gorgeous, peaceful setting and a unique piece of land. It’s definitely run down and needs a deep clean, though I can tell they’re trying to improve it. Renovating and expanding could make it even better, but that takes time and money. If you want a real camping experience with a few extra perks, this is a good place to go. We had an electrical problem with our cabin in K11. I believe the staff member’s name was Alec or Alex. He called to explain that the fault was underground and wouldn’t be an easy fix. Things happen, and I understood. They gave us an 80% discount, so we paid about what a tent site costs instead of a cabin fee. Since the main bath house was also out of order because of the power issue, he made sure we had a golf cart. With my bad knee, that helped a lot because the other bath houses were farther away. I was grateful they tried hard to make our stay fun despite the outage. The internet is Starlink and pretty unreliable, but you’re camping deep in the mountains, so perfect service isn’t something I’d expect. The more experienced campers had walkie-talkies. They could use more staff, though the people who were there were very nice and worked their butts off. I hope they add headlights to the golf carts. I’m glad they’re limited to 5mph, since this is a kid-friendly park with lots of people riding bikes.

The staff were cheerful, helpful, and seemed to enjoy working at Cutty's. The bathrooms were kept clean, and the showers were great compared with some camp shower nightmares I’ve seen. Staff were always cleaning, and my boys had no trouble using them. There was also a bathroom and shower just a few steps away from our site, though you wouldn’t know it was there unless you camped right beside it. We enjoyed the trip and spotted a few sites we’d avoid next time, along with a few we’d consider booking if we return. Cutty's is worth a visit, though it may not make our must-return list. It’s still an option in the area. Our C5 site was shaded for most of the day, but leveling our 26' trailer was a struggle. Side to side was fine, but the tongue jack was maxed out to get it level front to back. The water hookups were adequate. The "20amp" pedestal was just an uncovered junction box, and with the trailer at the back of the pad, my sewer hose wouldn’t reach. Moving forward enough to use it would have left us badly out of level. The picnic table was very old, with a bolt sticking out, so we moved it aside and didn’t use it. The outdoor pool was clean and usually not too crowded. A little heat would have made it more comfortable in the cool June weather, which made it hard to stay long. I imagine it’s the place to be in summer heat. The indoor pool was muggy but clean, and we had it to ourselves. The "pool deck" was closed for maintenance, though it didn’t look like any work was underway. Upstairs, the game room was fine, with cheap pool and free ping pong. We were told one table "eats pool balls," so if another group had rented the equipment before us, it could have been a problem. There were plenty of board games and poker chips, plus a TV that I assume worked, though we never tried it. Downstairs was a nice little store with ice cream, soda, and a few "necessities." We booked Cutty's to try a new site. The trip was enjoyable, but I’m not sure we’d put it at the top of our return list.

It’s hard to let go of a family tradition that’s lasted so long, and we’re genuinely sad to say we won’t be back. After staying here for the better part of 15 years, though, we can’t justify bringing the kids to a resort that feels unsafe and so poorly maintained. The playground playhouse had rotting wood, and broken swings had jagged metal hanging off them that could easily cut a child. The indoor pool was gross and unclean. The game and TV room was falling apart, its TV and DVD player didn’t work, and there were ZERO children’s movies, which was especially frustrating on the first day when it poured rain. Some games were missing pieces. The mini golf course was in rough shape too, with holes in the greens and slopes that made many holes unusable. Supposed "high-speed internet" wasn’t fast, and service was hit or miss. Every building seemed to be on its last legs, with rotting wood, dirty or sagging furniture, and poor cleanliness. We stayed in the Bunkhouse, and my family booked three Creekside Cabins. They were extremely dirty, worse than a motel 6, and we left early because we couldn’t bear the thought of sleeping there another night. The places were falling apart, with holes in the floors, rotting wood, and peeling laminate. There were few utensils, despite what was advertised, and the mattresses were old and sagging. Towels were stained and dirty, and we had to ask for toilet paper and trash bags. The Bunkhouse had only one mirror, over the toilet, and no wall hooks. There were no pros to the accommodations. The kind staff and fun ice cream social were bright spots. ColdStone cups were available for purchase at $6 each. Before 2021, Cutty's was family-owned. Then a corporation bought it, and the difference is obvious. We used to love coming here; it was well-maintained, fun, and reasonably priced. We’ve made so many memories over the years, which makes it all the more disappointing that we won’t return.

There’s plenty to do outdoors here, from tennis, mini golf, and volleyball to the indoor and outdoor pools, which felt great. You can rent golf carts, and there’s a convenience store with beer and liquor, plus a food hall right beside the awesome playground. Bring some cash. The cabins were clean, and the lofts were comfortable to sleep in. Ours had AC, a fridge, a bathroom, a bed with linens, a sink, and a little couch. Bring extra bedding if you want to make the bed super cozy. There are lots of trails along the beautiful river, and I recommend the rainbow trail. The scenery is beautiful, too. It’s a really nice campground and inexpensive for what it offers.

There were 20 of us from Monday to Wednesday, and we had a wonderful time. Check-in was super easy, our accommodations were great, and we were all pretty close together. We took over the swimming pool, and mother nature cooperated. We’ll come back with even more people.
