The only decent moment was when I asked a maid for fresh towels and she said yes. Until then, the room situation was grim: the first one had a dirty bathroom, and the one we took instead had dirty towels. The carpets are stained, the windows are filthy, and towels are only washed every three days unless you ask for a change. The TV gets five channels, and the exercise room is still “under construction.” Choice Hotels advertises a hot breakfast online, but what they serve is continental. I’d stay away.

The beds were rock hard, and I wasn't sure the sheets were clean. The floors and bathroom were filthy, the shower wouldn't drain, and the toilet seat was left up when I arrived. A colleague even found nail clippings in her room. There were people living in several rooms. This was easily the worst “hotel” I've stayed at. It's the only place to stay for about 40 miles, but looking back, driving farther would have been worth it. Truly awful.

Tony's insults and the way he dismissed people with disabilities were shameful. He questioned a Desert Storm Veteran's disability, and the receptionist Tony kept inserting herself into other people's conversations while insulting customers who had valid complaints. I'll be contacting Choice Hotels about that. The manager also seemed highly impaired, possibly under the influence of something strong, and the staff were miserable. For six nights, the room was filthy, full of pubic hairs and cigarette smoke, and the service was the worst I've encountered. I've stayed in military accommodations in Kuwait and Iraq that were cleaner and more attentive. With conditions like these, families with small children or people with compromised immune systems could end up in the hospital. I can't explain how terrible and unbecoming this experience was.

The rooms were clean, and they've started work on upgrades that are needed. Staff were friendly, especially housekeeping manager Sara, who checked that we were satisfied and told us to contact her with any problems. The property changed hands to Rodeway Inn and got off to a rocky start. They carried over our wedding block reservation from before the takeover, but extended the block until a day after we left instead of releasing unreserved rooms in the prior two week window. Reservations made before the takeover were lost, though the rooms were still held at the contracted rate.

The people in the next room were loud and kept climbing in and out of their window to get to the parking lot. Our own window was wedged shut with pens and dirty towels. The pool area barely had any lighting, and it felt unsafe to swim in the dark. During our five day stay, the internet never worked. Housekeeping made the beds and left clean towels each day, but didn't vacuum or clean the bathroom. At check-in, nobody was at the desk, so we waited about ten minutes. Our room smelled musty, the bathroom floor had hair and what looked like dried puke, and after my shower I found long black hairs on my body from the towels, even though my hair is short and dirty blond. At checkout I was charged $150.00 for “Admin,” which I was told was a pet fee. I had already been charged $50.00 for my registered service dog. My confirmation says the pet charge is $10.00 per day for up to two pets per day, and it also says under the “Americans With Disabilities Act of 1990” that a business may NOT charge fees because of the dog. I spoke to Dane the Manager, who reluctantly agreed to credit the $150.00, but a week later it still hadn't come through. I had to dispute the admin and pet charge with my credit card company. I would never recommend this hotel.
