The Cody Hotel

We spent the night here right after we got married, 16 years ago when they had just opened. We came back today for a conference, and The Cody is still one of our favorite Cody hotels. Very clean and welcoming, with amazing customer service. Five stars.

Friendly staff, a great breakfast, and a clean, dog-friendly hotel that doesn't charge for furry friends. It's on the edge of an awesome town, Cody, Wyoming, with a truly historic past that helped pave the way for Yellowstone Park. One of the nicest and cleanest hotels I've had the pleasure of staying at. Highly recommend it for a trip.

The staff were very friendly and as helpful as they could be, but this was a long, hard day for my dad and me because we couldn't access the room as promised. I called Tuesday to book a wheelchair-accessible room for Wednesday night. I explained that my elderly father uses a wheelchair and had early hospital appointments in Cody on Thursday. I also asked for a late checkout so I could bring him back to rest between appointments, and they assured me that would be fine. They didn't tell me the parking lot would be repaved with asphalt Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning, even though that work must have been scheduled weeks, if not months, ahead. We could reach the front entrance Wednesday evening, but had to park in the adjoining lot overnight. The next day we had to leave much earlier than planned and couldn't bring Dad back to rest unless I rolled his wheelchair through two parking lots over fresh asphalt. I understand that asphalt needs repairing. What wasn't acceptable was repeatedly assuring me that wheelchair access would be available when they knew it wouldn't be.

That lobby was such a lovely place to unwind, with its baby grand piano, velvet and fabric sofas, and oriental rugs. I spent both evenings reading there. The indoor hallways, easy free parking, and reliable WiFi were handy too. I was only passing through Cody on the way to Yellowstone, but my two nights here became a real highlight. The front desk woman was kind and helpful, answered my questions about the area, and got me checked in quickly. There were chocolate chip cookies waiting on a table as soon as I came in, which was a pretty great welcome. My room was clean, warm, and comfortable, with western décor that felt inviting rather than cheesy. The bed was especially good, and I slept through the night. There was a fridge, microwave, and coffee maker, all I needed. Breakfast exceeded my expectations, with eggs, sausage, waffles, fruit, and cereal. Granola bars and snacks were available in the lobby during the day, and I kept going back for the cucumber water. I really liked that the pool and hot tub stay open around the clock. Both were spotless. There's also a fitness room and a cozy firepit outside. As a woman traveling alone, I felt safe throughout my stay. The shared spaces felt welcoming, and my room gave me privacy when I wanted it. The location is hard to beat. Old Trail Town is across the street, the rodeo is a quarter mile away, and I could hear the crowd from the hotel. The Buffalo Bill Center is nearby, and the Yellowstone east entrance is less than an hour away. There's plenty to do around Cody, from horseback riding and rafting to fishing and hiking. Everyone I met was friendly and seemed to enjoy their work. They gave me useful suggestions for places to eat and visit. I've stayed in hundreds of hotels, and this one stands out because the comfort, cleanliness, location, and service all came together. I'm already thinking about returning to explore more.
