Hampton Inn Colchester

I paid about 50% extra by booking directly through Hilton because I asked for a 3:00 p.m. checkout. I was told late checkout depended on availability, and it looked like there was plenty, so I booked. At the desk, the man said the 3:00 request wasn't noted, but with about 60% of rooms available, it probably wouldn't be an issue. He could only grant 2:00 and told me to check again in the morning. The two women on duty then refused 3:00 because I wasn't a Diamond member, even though corporate had said otherwise when I booked. They could at least have offered to ask a supervisor and get back to me. Corporate only called the hotel, which refused again. My wife and dog were waiting in the room, and I had to cut short my ski day with my kid. I understand there was snow, but the rooms were available, and they made clear it would have been fine if I were Diamond. Also, $75 for a small dog is ridiculous. There are plenty of other good hotels around.

The staff we met were all helpful and really nice, and the breakfast had lots to choose from, including pastries, cereal, eggs and omelets, and meats. There's a nice pool too. We didn't swim this time, but I walked past it and plan to use it on our next visit. A very nice place to stay, highly recommend it.

I was in town for a memorial service and stayed here in NOV 2025. I'm originally from VT. The fifth-floor room was awesome, especially the vaulted ceiling, which made it feel unlike a typical hotel. The bed was comfortable, the staff were super nice, and the inviting lobby always had coffee ready. I'd definitely stay again.

Everyone on staff was pleasant and helpful, and the price was decent. The breakfast was good, the lobby was clean, and the facilities were good. The rooms, though, are dated, with dirty carpets and old, damaged furniture. There was even an extension cord running across the floor into a cabinet to power a pump.
