Atlanta Airport Marriott Gateway

We paid for concierge access, but on Saturday morning the lounge had a sign saying it was closed on weekends. The lobby sent us across the street to another hotel for breakfast, where the food was disappointing and cost us a lot. The room also lacked enough towels for our family of four, and the beds were the hardest and least comfortable we’ve ever slept on, like a floor. We stayed one night, 3/27 to 3/28, with our two children, and arrived to a lobby bar full of drunk people, which didn’t feel appropriate for kids. On Saturday morning there was also a half-finished glass of whiskey beside the seventh-floor elevator, apparently left there overnight. I had to pay 30 dollars to park the rental car for an hour while checking out. This was far below Marriott standards. There are probably better nearby options, so avoid it.

Christopher made my last-minute booking at the desk after I arrived at ATL a great experience. He found me the best rate, even compared with Expedia and other apps, and was exceptionally kind and professional. He was working the 11 pm to 7 AM shift on Feb 6-7 2026, and when I checked out early the next morning after his night shift, he was still in the same good mood. The room was clean and very nice. Getting to the hotel is easy: take the free SkyTrain to the GICC stop, then walk a short way. I only wish the SkyTrain had covered walkways to the hotels for bad weather, though that’s not the hotel’s fault. If you need a convenient place by the airport with friendly front desk service, I’d stay here and ask for Christopher.

The rooms are spacious and clean, and the restaurant is good, though the lobby bar is even better. The staff were wonderful. It’s so convenient when you’re returning a car before an early flight, and getting to the terminal in the morning is easy. I love the Marriott Gateway.

I’ve stayed here three times, and each time the front desk staff have made me feel like talking to them is a favor. I’m a Marriott Bonvoy member and usually stay at Marriotts, so it’s disappointing to leave a negative review when most of mine are positive. The other day I was in a hurry, and one woman stared me down and acted as if she hadn’t noticed when I asked her to help with my concern. Three of the women I’ve dealt with at the desk have had this attitude. They seem comfortable with each other, but not with the kind of service I expect from Marriott. I’ll talk to a manager next time I’m in town.
