Aloft by Marriott College Station

The welcome was the highlight. The hotel is in a somewhat convenient spot, but the rooms need remodeling and touch-ups. The walls are so thin I could hear people several rooms away. Loose tiles in the bathroom and shower, an unclean look, and a smell of old mold made things worse.

The TV is tiny, like a postage stamp, and so old that streaming took forever. It really needs an update. The shower was worse, with no hot water, just warm at best. I went to the desk twice and was told maintenance had been sent, but I basically couldn't shower because the water never got hot.

If streaming at a hotel matters to you, avoid this place. I thought the problem might be the room, so I packed everything and moved, but the second room had the same issue. Glad I'm only here one night. If I were staying longer, I'd switch hotels.

The location is what earned the hotel two stars. The property needs major repairs and preventive maintenance. In the bathroom, the shower tile was cracked, wallpaper was warping, water pressure was poor, and there was a strong mold smell. The room was very cold, below 60 degrees by my estimate, and the walls could use fresh paint. The blonde woman at the front desk wasn't welcoming or friendly, and didn't give the usual check-in information. As a Gold Member, I don't see myself booking here again, though it wasn't the worst place in the area.
