Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, College Station, TX

The location is the only reason I’m giving this one star. We were in town for a campus tour at A&M and paid $461.00 for one night in a non-smoking king room with a sleeper sofa. The second floor smelled strongly of cigarette smoke, and when I opened the sofa bed, there was what looked like a sack of garbage dumped over and under the mattress. It had a big brown stain and looked awful. There weren’t any pillows for it, either. I asked the receptionist if another room was available, but she said there were none. When I asked whether someone could clean up the mess, she said housekeeping had left and there was nothing she could do. She didn’t offer a broom or vacuum so we could handle it ourselves. I travel a lot and have never had this kind of experience, especially at $461 a night. I wouldn’t recommend staying here. Plan ahead and find somewhere clean.

We’ll book here again next time we’re in the area. Our room was neat, very clean, and smelled fresh, with plenty of towels and complimentary toiletries. The property is well lit and easy to locate, and check-in was simple thanks to the extremely professional staff.

The rooms, especially the suites, have plenty of space, and the hotel is in a good area with ample, well-lit parking. We come to College Station often and stay here each time. Holly and her team are courteous and very nice, and the front desk is always ready to help if you need anything. I highly recommend checking it out if you’re in College Station.

After several hours on the road, I was grateful they let me check in early. This was my first stay, and I’d called ahead with questions. The manager on duty and another staff member were both friendly, took time to answer me, and gave me useful information before I arrived. They made the booking and arrival easy and welcoming.
