Americas Best Value Inn Collinsville St. Louis

A clean, quiet room in a great location. They have both smoking and non-smoking rooms, and the front desk clerk was really friendly.

We spent only five minutes in the room, but it smelled bad and was in very poor condition. It looked like someone had already slept in the bed, there was hair all over the bathtub, and the curtains were filthy and stank. This is a very unkempt motel, and I wouldn’t recommend anyone stay here. We’d reserved for two nights the week before, then had car trouble and canceled one night. They told us they’d reimburse us, but instead said we had to pay $200 or leave, and that they’d still charge us for both nights even though we weren’t there.

The mattress was rock hard, and the room smelled bad. It really needs updating: the carpet needs cleaning, and the shower curtain had black stains. There was also a dead bug on the wall that I guess a previous guest had killed. The night desk lady didn’t even want to give me fresh towels. And that “free breakfast” was a joke, with watered-down coffee and juice plus Hostess snack cakes.

This was the only place available when something came up at the last minute. The people were super nice, and the rooms were decent and clean.
