Super 8 by Wyndham Collinsville St. Louis

The staff were nice, but I don't understand how this hotel has a 3.5 rating. The hallways smelled like smoke and our room smelled musty. The floors were sticky, the beds were hard, and there were only two small drawers for clothes. From the first floor, we could hear the squeaky floor sounds of someone walking around upstairs. Breakfast was just some bananas and yogurt, plus cereal containers that were empty.

This was my second stay, and both times have been great. The location works perfectly: food and shops are nearby, downtown St Louis is a 15-minute drive, and the convention center is right across the street. There are also three decent restaurants within walking distance and plenty of parking. The rooms are clean and have a microwave and fridge, and the beds are comfortable. The front desk staff are always helpful, especially JB, the daytime manager, and the cleaning crew do a great job. I'll be back next year when I'm in Collinsville.

I got a smoking room and needed to check in early, which cost an extra $40. The smell made me think the carpet needed to be pulled up and checked for mold. The towel rack was nearly falling off the wall, and there were burns in the blanket. Even after staff took my dirty towels and brought new ones, someone else's washcloth was still hanging by the shower curtain with a hair on it.

I had a wonderful stay, and JB was amazing. The hotel was packed for the cheerleading competition. I saw some people complaining about check-in, but the staff were doing their best. I like it here.
