Baymont by Wyndham Colorado Springs

The hotel is really clean, and every employee we met was so polite. Mike, the manager, is especially kind and amazing. Christina and the weekend breakfast attendant are incredibly sweet too. My kids said, “I'd recommend this place, not that stupid Econolodge next door.” 🙃

We returned to Colorado Springs for a work assignment that was meant to last one week and unexpectedly stretched into a month. My wife and I decided to give the Baymont another try after a mediocre stay a couple of years back, and I'm very glad we did. The difference this time was remarkable. The hotel is quiet, clean, and well cared for, and the rooms feel comfortable and homey. Staff have been consistently polite, kind, and accommodating. New management seems to have made a real difference. I'm a Wyndham Diamond member, their highest tier, and I write reviews to help other customers, not hotels. If a past visit left you underwhelmed, consider giving this place another chance. The improvements are real, despite the fluff you often see in online reviews.

The place looked nothing like its photos, and I was glad we canceled and found a better hotel. The reception staff didn't even greet us. My card was charged three times. The halls smelled like smoke and urine, and there was blood all over the bedding with bugs crawling on the floor. There wasn't security on the doors or anywhere else. It looked like people experiencing homelessness lived there. It was the most disgusting hotel I've ever seen. I wouldn't recommend it unless you want to get a disease.

One star. My stay was a letdown from beginning to end. When I checked in, the front desk woman took my ID and forgot to return it. I only noticed a couple of hours later when I went to my car. I came back inside and she handed it over with a casual “Here, sorry.” Maybe it was an honest mistake, maybe she was trying to steal my information. I don't know, but it felt suspicious. The property and my room weren't kept clean or in good shape. The bed was made, which was the only positive thing about the room. There were crumbs across the floor, stains on the towels, a TV that didn't work, and a broken cabinet on the bedside table. I also found one bug in the sink and another in the shower. Basic cleaning and maintenance seem to be ignored. Between the bugs, dirt, broken furniture, and ID incident, I can't recommend this place.
