Econo Lodge Colorado Springs Downtown

I was staying here because it was close to the hospital. The room was clean, had great amenities, and the service during the stay was nice. The person who handles survey feedback, though, took our billing question as a personal attack and wouldn't try to understand it. Instead of sorting it out, she told us to call the next day and speak to someone else. That turned a five-star stay into a three-star one for me.

The only reason I gave one star is that I couldn't give a negative rating. This was the worst hotel in Colorado Springs, and the worst customer service I've seen. The woman with the black expedition wouldn't even look up from her computer when I came down for coffee in the morning. She made up policies that went against Choice privilege point systems. Whether it's a franchise or not, corporate compliance still applies, and she didn't seem to care about that, or about guests returning or making a living here. I can't say whether she owns the place, but if she worked for me, I wouldn't have any business. I could go on about my awful stay at this Econo Lodge, but I'll stop here. Spend a little more or travel farther. I won't stay here again.

Angel at the Econolodge front desk made my stay much smoother. She was professional, knowledgeable, and went out of her way to make sure everything was handled. It was great to be met with that kind of care and genuine attention to the hospitality experience. I had a really good stay and recommend this location, especially because of Angel's service.

When I arrived, they charged me $191.10 at the counter, then added another $50 charge afterward. I was told on the spot that they had to charge more. How many other people who booked this motel were also told they needed to pay a $50 deposit? Was the same thing happening at its sister property, the Hotel Howard Johnson by Wyndham at 1231 South Nevada Ave., Colorado Springs, Colorado, United States? I have concerns about being targeted for gang and community stocking wherever I go, with strange rules and fees and surveillance in places where I stay, involving staff and clients. I'm wondering whether anyone else was told about this deposit.
