Fairfield Inn & Suites Colorado Springs Air Force Academy

We left the first night after being asked to pay for the full stay before we'd even finished the reservation. It made us uncomfortable, and we'd never had a Marriott handle things that way before. Finding another room across town cost us nearly $150. We only stayed at the property afterward because its cancellation and early departure rules meant we'd face more charges if we left for good. The hotel felt disorganized from arrival, and the exterior and parking areas were dirty. It also seemed outdated and poorly maintained, far below what I expect from a Marriott. There was just one washer and one dryer, and neither was available when we needed them, so we had to go to a laundromat. The coffee station wasn't kept up or stocked consistently, and the ice machine was out of order. We're frequent Marriott guests and close to Titanium Elite, so we know the standards we normally expect from the brand. This stay was especially disappointing and didn't meet them.

The staff were pleasant, but I won't stay here again. When we arrived late Friday night in about -2 windchill, the hotel doors were locked, the card reader wasn't working, and nobody was at the desk. We had to bang on the door until someone let us in. They said the reader was broken, but there was no sign or notice. The room had several problems. The shower water never got properly hot, the conditioner was empty, and there was no screen on the window, which seems like a serious liability. I also lost about $30 worth of food after putting it in a refrigerator that turned out not to work. The TV sits too low to watch comfortably while lying down. Breakfast wasn't looked after except on one day. The sandwiches were hard, they ran out of coffee, and the ice machine hadn't refilled overnight.

They gave me a key to a room that was already occupied, then moved me through three rooms. In one, the TV didn't work, the fridge was broken, and there were bloodstains painted over on the bathroom wall, as shown in the photos. The last room they tried to put me in had a toilet that wouldn't flush. Marriott should cut ties with this property.

The furnace was so loud you could hear it down the hall, at any time of day or night. We had to get our room keys rekeyed every time we wanted to get back in, and the elevator was broken. Breakfast wasn't good either. They left a hot pan uncovered and exposed to everything in the room. This was the worst Marriott hotel we've stayed at.
