Hampton Inn Colorado Springs Central Air Force Academy

This was the nicest hotel on our trip. The room was large, comfortable, clean, and pleasant, and breakfast was pretty good. There were at least two hot choices, including omelets, sausage, and potatoes, along with waffles and the usual continental items. Check-in and checkout were quick, and they were also collecting money for Hurricane relief. We didn't need a fridge or microwave, but it was disappointing that they weren't included and apparently cost extra. They did put a bit more than the going rate on my credit charge, but when I didn't use any extra services, they correctly charged only the room rate.

The location worked well for visiting Colorado Springs attractions and the Air Force Academy, and there are restaurants and mini golf down the street. The hotel was clean, comfortable, and well kept. The room had good furnishings and a comfortable bed, and breakfast was plenty for what we needed. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Their system charged my card multiple times for the pre-authorization, but the front desk explained what had happened. I'd definitely recommend this as a clean, comfortable, affordable place to stay.

We had no complaints about the room, and the two-night price of $328 and some change seemed reasonable. But when they ran our card, they charged $377 plus $167 for incidentals. I raised it with the clerk at checkout. She was kind and said the money would be reimbursed after the night audit. I don't mind the reimbursement process, but I do object to being charged almost $200 above the original price. It disrupted part of our trip because we were short $200 while waiting for the money back, and we felt discriminated against. Thankfully, we three Hispanic women had enough of our hard-earned money not to be affected by it. Absolutely ridiculous. We stay at this hotel chain all the time, and this has never happened before.

The pool was nice, and the hotel is well located in the Colorado Springs area, not too far from Manitou springs. Our room was clean and well maintained, though a bit cramped. The free breakfast was average. A hot tub was advertised, but we couldn't find it. It was a good experience overall.
