True North Motel

Heather is kind and will do what she can to make sure you're comfortable and happy. Management is professional, and the staff's compassion is much appreciated. It's not the usual run-down, low-end motel. I'd recommend staying here.

I got room 14 and couldn't stay. Under the mattress, in a bloodstain, I found what looked like bedbug eggs, so I drove 20 minutes back to Manitou and slept in my car in a parking lot. The bedding didn't seem clean either, and there was a pube on the blanket. The in-person service was alright, but it doesn't make up for how filthy the place was. They need to actually keep it clean. Don't stay here, and if you do, inspect the bed carefully.

The bed was mostly comfortable, and the housekeeper was kind. Beyond that, I wouldn't bother with this motel. The sheets had hair and debris in them, which should be the bare minimum to get right. One window had a mostly see-through “privacy” curtain, so I hung the dirty top blanket over it. The rest of the room was passable, though some spots were dirty. I chose one of the cheapest options in town and wasn't expecting luxury, but by checkout I would have paid another $200 for a clean bed. I also regret not researching the area. I felt unsafe and was uncomfortably stared at by other guests and people nearby. Staff didn't keep me waiting long, and the woman who helped was okay and got the job done. Still, I don't know how this place gets more than two stars. Spend a little more on a chain.
