Best Western Plus Arrowhead Hotel

Heather was very helpful and sweet, but Nathaniel treated my husband and me in a way that felt racist. I travel a lot as a respiratory therapist and have never been told that a Do Not Disturb sign means staff can randomly check a room because of the Las Vegas shooting. He said it wasn’t written policy, just standard practice. It felt like the scrutiny was aimed at us because we’re African-American, and he kept picking at my husband for no reason while I was working at the hospital. The deposit amount also kept changing, from $150 one week to $200 the next. That makes no sense. Best Western needs to do better and give him proper training.

The only real downsides were the ice machine on our floor, which stayed broken even after they tried to fix it noisily, and the upstairs neighbors were very loud. Otherwise, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the room was a nice size and clean. The beds were comfortable, though a bit high for shorter guests. There were plenty of pillows and extra comforters, blackout curtains, lots of drawer space, a hair dryer, and even an iron.

Amber at the front desk was especially helpful, and everyone we met was friendly. It’s a lovely hotel, with comfortable rooms and a peaceful area around it.

I’ve stayed at plenty of Best Westerns, but this one felt the sketchiest. While I was on the way, they charged the card I had on file, even though I planned to use another card when I arrived and hadn’t given permission for that charge. At check-in they also took a $150 damage hold. I understand the idea, though no other Best Western I’ve used has asked me for one. When I checked out, they couldn’t give me a receipt for it. Instead, the employee took a photo of the transaction on the computer using my phone, which felt very strange. A few days later the $150 still hadn’t come back. I called, and the person said she’d call me back but never did. She also said she was the manager on duty, but I later got an email from the GM and learned that wasn’t true. I’m now disputing the amount with my bank. They can’t find the transaction, despite my proof that it happened. It feels like the hotel took my money.
