Colts Neck Inn Hotel

I canceled my Easter weekend booking (April 4-6 2026) today, and I won’t be back unless I’m desperate. This used to be my go-to inn because it’s up the street from my parents, so I’m bummed. I didn’t want to write a review, but the manager being unreachable after the bed bug incident was the last straw. On March 6-7 2026, in Room 203, the upgraded king room, a bed bug on my pillow woke me at 4 am with an itchy shoulder. By 4:30 am I was in the lobby helping staff carry and change the sheets because they were completely booked. The front desk said the manager would refund the room. Two days later, after three calls, I still hadn’t heard anything or received my money. There was another issue during my February 22-24 2026 stay in Room 203, the upgraded king suite. My car had to be towed to a shop, leaving me stranded in Jersey, so I stayed the first night. Snow meant I had to add another day, and then I was charged twice. I couldn’t reach the manager even when they were at the property. I told the front desk I wouldn’t leave until it was fixed, and they managed to refund the duplicate charge. The front desk kept saying the manager was in a meeting, which I can understand, but four hours is hard to believe. This wasn’t the first time they’d been missing. Three years ago I was double charged too, and the front desk had to refund me then because the manager couldn’t be reached. Use your best judgement when booking.

The hotel was really clean, and breakfast came with the stay. We were only there overnight and it was nice and quiet. At checkout, two birds at the counter greeted us, unwrapped some mints, and ate them. Pretty cool!

The lobby had lovely holiday decorations, including a really tall Christmas tree. My boyfriend and I stayed on New Year’s Eve, and our room was clean and well kept. We had a very pleasant stay and would come back.

The inn itself is cute and nice, and the people were friendly, but our stay was a bad experience. At 7a, we woke to hammering right outside our room while someone set up what looked like a tarp. For the next few hours, until checkout, they kept hammering and throwing things off the roof above us during heavy roof work. It was extremely loud. Hotels are for sleeping, and this kind of maintenance should happen between about 10a and 3p, after checkout and before new guests arrive. Completely unacceptable.
