Budget Host Columbia

The Wi-Fi didn't work, there weren't enough towels, and the free breakfast was so poor that we ended up going to McDonald's. The room itself was great, with soft, well-made beds, and the pool was well cared for. It took about four hours after we switched on the AC for the room to get nice and cold.

The maintenance man was quick to check the heat and helpful. He found us three rooms together a few doors away, and my husband even helped him move a spare mattress into another unused room. But when we went to the desk to arrange the move, the woman working said we couldn't have three rooms together because we'd already been in the room with working heat. We'd first been assigned three side-by-side rooms. After unloading into the first two, we realized there was no heat, with temperatures in the 20s. We waited in the other room while maintenance checked. It was nearly 8 p.m., and there were no other cars on our side of the hotel. We were the only customers, with just one other car arriving at a room. There were plenty of rooms available the night before Mizzou graduation.

We left for another hotel as soon as we realized the room and furniture were covered in fleas. We even took pictures. On the way out, we noticed some on the clothes of the gentleman helping us. Completely disgusting. We had only planned to stay one night during a long drive so we could sleep before getting back on the road, and I didn't even stay there. They couldn't refund us that night because there was no manager around. We called the next morning and spoke with Sara, who wouldn't give us the manager's information and said she couldn't refund us because we'd been there for one hour. We left as soon as we saw the fleas. This place needs to close. I don't recommend it to anyone, and I'll speak with the manager. This is ridiculous.

Breakfast got going an hour late, and all they had was biscuits and gravy, coffee, and two kinds of dry cereal. I don't eat biscuits and gravy, so that was disappointing. The room was clean, the beds comfortable, and the shower had strong pressure with liquid soap and shampoo dispensers. There wasn't internet in the room. I had to go to the end of the building to get a signal. Not a bad stay otherwise.
