Holiday Inn & Suites Columbia NE - Ft Jackson Area by IHG

i was really impressed by how clean this hotel was. i have 25 environmental allergies, so cleanliness matters a lot to me, and i was satisfied. the rooms are nicely decorated too, i loved them. i don't get the bad reviews. give it a try and judge the stay for yourself, mine was all positive.

The location is good and the rooms are okay, but there was only one working elevator for six floors. The wait was awful, especially from the top floor. Breakfast was $12.95, and the meal didn't seem worth that. The scrambled eggs were barely cooked, with breakfast potatoes and cheap, nasty sausage patties. There weren't even pancakes, waffles, or biscuits and gravy like a basic free hotel breakfast might have. Don't trust listings that say breakfast is free, and don't buy the package or pay for it separately. When I raised the issue, the attendant sent me to the front desk, and the desk said they'd pass it along to the kitchen. Staff seemed completely unconcerned. I couldn't find any customer service here. I'd spend my money somewhere else.

I wasn't happy with this hotel. The layout feels old and needs updating, and my room had a smell I didn't like. I checked out early because the room wasn't satisfactory. At the desk, the guy said, “well you know you won’t get your money back right,” as if I was worried about that.

A very nice Holiday Inn Express, with friendly, helpful staff and a restaurant and bar on-site. There's no complimentary breakfast, though. The one snag was that broadcast TV channels weren't available, so I had to stream the football game on my laptop.
