Hilton Garden Inn Columbus/Polaris

I gave this place another try because my previous stay seemed decent. The bathroom was standard and the bed was fine, but the pillows were very flat, with no neck support even folded in half. The bigger concern was the parking lot security. There were vehicle break-ins on multiple nights. Nothing was visible in my car and nothing was stolen, but someone had tossed my center console. Apparently they didn't find whatever they were after. Six other vehicles were hit too. If management wants people to keep staying here, it needs to improve its security measures.

The room and lobby were clean, and there was plenty of parking, but for the price this was very disappointing. One of the two elevators was broken, and a lamp had a short that worried us. The breakfast was okay, but small and not close to what I expected. We had to wait and ask for a paper plate and give our room number. On the second night we asked for towels and were told to come back after 8 a.m. We were leaving by 7, so we used a pillowcase and my makeup towel instead. The conditioner and shower gel were empty, the ice bucket liner wasn't replaced, and the tissues stayed empty for the whole stay. Good thing I had travel-size toiletries. I've stayed in much cheaper places that did better.

The location was great, close to plenty of places and things to do, though several nearby hotels have the same advantage. The rest of the stay was rough. Check-in dragged on even though we'd already paid online, and the staff seemed annoyed. The place wasn't clean: trash was still on the elevator floor when we checked out the next day, the carpet was atrocious, and the room floor felt sticky enough to make noise under my shoes. The beds' metal frames made a sound like a baking sheet warping whenever we moved. Two weeks later, they still hadn't returned our deposit. We were basically only in the room to sleep, and there was no damage. I'd look for another hotel in the area.

The room and bathroom were clean, but the body lotion bottle was empty. The breakfast attendant stayed on her phone and didn't acknowledge us until we went to order. They ran out of coffee twice, and both times we had to ask for more. At the front desk, the staff member and manager were rude and didn't listen. The manager even walked off while we were talking.
