Kozy Inn Columbus

Check-in was quick and the room was clean. Checkout was at 11, but by 10:30 I was rushing around.

The room was filthy: brown stains on the pillows, sheets, and towels, plus dirty floors, counters, and bathroom. A family of roaches might have done a better job cleaning. I was put in a smoking room, which hadn’t been disclosed when I booked, and after only four hours of “sleep” I left smelling strongly of cigarettes. I’ve never had a worse stay. The Waffle House bathroom next door would’ve been a better place to sleep than this nasty cigarette kozy inn. I’d have been better off in my car.

It’s convenient for the freeway, and this place used to be nice when it first opened, but it hasn’t held up. The room didn’t look very clean, though I didn’t see bed bugs or roaches. The rates feel too high, and now there’s a deposit: after you return the keys, the desk clerk checks the room and refunds it if everything’s in order.

I reserved through the book it app, but when I arrived and gave my details, it felt like they thought I’d just walked in off the street. Paying cash meant a $25 deposit, which was fine. After getting my key, I found holes in the blanket and chairs, and the room was outdated and dirty. I took photos straight away. Even the coffee maker wasn’t worth touching, so I spent extra money to make the overnight stay comfortable. When I asked for my deposit back in the morning, I mentioned that I had pictures of the room. The man at the desk quickly handed over the cash and turned away. I didn’t see bedbugs, but I wouldn’t be surprised if there were some. Next time, I’ll spend another 30 bucks for a better hotel.
