Comfort Suites Grand Rapids North

Fritz made our anniversary weekend. I had booked the wrong room, but he was kind and accommodating about fixing my mistake and found us a room with a jacuzzi tub. I really appreciated his help and excellent service. My partner and I will definitely come back.

The room was spacious, and I especially liked the couch and the TV that could pivot. The front desk guy was really friendly, too. I stayed here for work, and this was one of the nicest hotels I've stayed in. Had a really good stay.

We didn't eat breakfast either day. The first morning, the food ran out, tables were dirty, and staff were rude. When we asked if they could bring out more waffle batter, they said no, that was it. The eggs and sausage patties were gone, too, and there wasn't anywhere clean to sit. The next morning we didn't even bother going down. The staff also seemed strange, like they were all related, and their kids were constantly running through the place. Absolutely not a good experience.

The front desk employees were wonderful, friendly, and helpful. They checked us in quickly and gave us the information we needed. Our room had adjustable heating and air, four lamps, reading lights by the bed, a cozy sitting area with two footstools, four pillows, and one comforter. The shower was hot, and there were three mirrors, two in the hall and one in the bathroom. The room looked clean, had a neutral smell, and the beds were clean. I'd give cleanliness 9/10, though the caulking and area under the bathroom vanity weren't as clean when I looked closely. We were able to find breakfast, parking, and a clean, cozy bed. For $232 for two nights in a king room on Friday and Saturday, it was okay for Grand Rapids, though it wouldn't be my first choice. Breakfast was a little lacking. On the first morning there were scrambled eggs, sausage, and waffles, but at 9am there was only enough batter for one last waffle, and we had to tip the container to get it out. The second morning at 9am there were no waffles, and we had to wait for eggs and sausage. The bacon and biscuits and gravy had run out. Both mornings there was also yogurt, toast, bagels, muffins, four kinds of cereal, three juice options, hard-boiled eggs, coffee, and hot cocoa. The apple juice was watered down. The hot tub was closed, and the pool was freezing. It could have been cleaner and warmer. The hotel was busy that weekend with a crafting retreat, and the parking lot was nearly full. Around 7am or 8am, we could hear people in the halls and walking upstairs.
