DoubleTree by Hilton Downtown Concord

We loved our stay and will definitely come back. The renovated rooms are beautiful, and the staff were kind and helpful. Ruby at the desk and Mel at breakfast took great care of us. There are lots of interesting dinner choices nearby, and the hotel’s own restaurant is lovely too.

The restaurant was a bad idea. The coffee was good, but it took 40 minutes to get a cold, dry piece of homemade banana bread and a breakfast sandwich with potatoes. The sandwich was lackluster, and the potatoes might as well have come straight from a dumpster. It took another 20 minutes to get a second coffee. We barely touched the food, nobody asked how it was, and after spending an hour and too much money, we left disappointed and hungry. We had misgivings as soon as we checked in because the lobby staff were rude and unhelpful. The hotel looked recently renovated, but it was dirty, with awful, strange smells that changed from hallway to hallway and lingered in the room. The elevator inspection was expired, and it made strange noises and bumped as it moved. The room looked decent at first, but the bed was the worst we’d slept on in a long time: rock hard, with stiff, scratchy bedding that rustled like tissue paper. The heat wouldn’t regulate, leaving the room either cold or scorching, and we could hear traffic all night. I definitely wouldn’t recommend this Doubletree in Concord NH.

Haley and Bear is well worth a visit. We had dinner there and the food felt carefully prepared by a real chef. The service was great too, thanks Alysa. I wouldn’t have expected much from a Doubletree restaurant, but this one was excellent. The hotel has recently been renovated and is very nice. We travel a lot, and from the welcome at the front desk to the room, it was all good: everything we needed, a comfortable bed, a good shower, bedside ports, a fridge, and a microwave. It’s in a good walkable location, and I’d recommend it. My only complaint is the $3 water bottles in the room.

The restaurant waitstaff were friendly, but breakfast was freezing cold every time. Renovations and young, friendly staff couldn’t make up for the hotel’s many problems. We had a dangling fire alarm, cold showers, and a shower that backed up. We reported these to two front desk staff and eventually the manager, who just gave us an irritated stare. Nothing was fixed, and the only hot shower we got in Concord was at the old, renovation-needing YMCA. One day, our room wasn’t cleaned at all. The lobby cleaner spent a long time in either the women’s or men’s bathroom talking on the phone. Twice she came in while my husband was using the restroom and didn’t leave after he announced himself. We never got a feedback survey after the stay, which is why I’m posting this Google review.
