Hilton Concord

My stay was okay, though I expected more from a real Hilton. I usually choose a Hilton Garden Inn and find it much nicer. On my last night, they put a notice on every door saying water to the whole building would be shut off from 6 a.m. until 2 p.m. That's ridiculous. Why not wait until after 9 o'clock?

The East Bay location by BART, shopping, and dining is a strong point, and the clean, modern rooms make for a reliably upscale stay. Hilton Concord also has an outdoor pool, a fitness center, and Creekside Restaurant, which serves well-sourced California food. With more than 20,000 square feet of event space, it seems a smart choice for business trips and families alike. Some guests do mention occasional maintenance issues.

I won't stay here again. In the morning there was no hot water at all, and I learned it had been out for two days. I had been told maintenance would work on it all night, but that hadn't happened. When I checked in, they warned me hot water might not be available on every floor. I asked for a room that had it, but they couldn't tell me where there was any. Instead, they offered me a couple of keys and told me I could go looking for it. Hilton was completely irresponsible to keep checking people in without knowing whether they had hot water. Nobody from housekeeping or maintenance had checked which rooms had it. I've stayed in 12 Hilton hotels in the last month and a half and never had this kind of problem.

Jay at the front desk was awesome, really sweet and accommodating. Getting there was super easy, and they put snacks on your room tab, so grabbing a midnight snack is simple. Marvelous team!
