Sleep Inn Concord - Kannapolis

The room smelled awful and was filthy, including the comforters. Even the carpet felt damp from the humidity. I really don’t recommend it.

The smell in the rooms was horrible, like mold and mildew, and my boys had trouble sleeping. The broken bathroom door latch nearly left my youngest stuck inside. They charged me too much for the room, and four days later my security deposit still hadn’t been returned to my card. I couldn’t reach anyone about either problem. We left the next morning and found another hotel for the rest of the visit. Very disappointing. I’ve stayed in $40-a-night motels that were nicer.

We booked two nights and only stayed one. The place smelled awful, like smoke, urine, and dirty dogs. The rooms were grimy, outdated, and dirty, with broken furniture and floors that needed vacuuming. The mattresses had brown spots and no plastic protectors. When I asked the man at the desk for help, he rolled his eyes and seemed annoyed. He offered us another room, but it was just as bad, so we stayed put. We would have left, but it was past midnight after a ten-hour drive with a baby. I thought I saw a roach crawl over the wall picture frame while lying in bed, but told myself I was imagining it. In the morning I figured it probably had been a roach, then found bed bugs in the room. My partner woke up with bites all over his back, and a large bug was still on him when I checked. We brought it to the desk, but they said it wasn’t a bed bug. It absolutely was. The woman there said the manager would call between 7 and 3 that day. She didn’t, so we went back. The same woman said they couldn’t refund us until pest control confirmed the room had bed bugs, since it was possible we’d brought them ourselves. She again said the manager would call the next day. Two full days have now passed, Saturday and Sunday, and they still haven’t worked with booking.com to refund us. We chose the hotel because it was near family we were visiting. We knew it wasn’t the best and thought it would at least be decent for sleeping while we were out all day. I usually find good hotel deals on booking.com, and thought this was one too. Based on the people I saw, I guessed it might be somewhere people without homes stay for long periods, and perhaps there was drug use or prostitution. We ended up at a nice hotel near Concord mills mall. If you can afford somewhere else, stay there. I attached a photo of the bed bug. Google wouldn’t let me upload the video I took of the room.

The room had a musty smell, and the bathroom was in rough shape. The trim by the toilet and shower was swollen from water damage, and the loose toilet seat nearly slid off. Getting ice meant going to another floor, where the elevator opened onto a strong pot smell. The location felt a little sketchy, the rooms were very dated, and breakfast left a lot to be desired.
