Motel 6 Concordia, MO

The room advertised as “non-smoking” smelled strongly of cigarettes. It was also missing a smoke detector, and there were bugs around the sink (pictured). We were tired and it was late, so we stayed anyway. I wish we hadn't. We were charged an extra $100 over a claim that our dog urinated in the room, which is completely false. Our housetrained dog was with us the whole time, went outside to relieve himself, and stayed on his portable bed. The owner had told me the deposit was only $50, which makes charging $100 for a false claim even more outrageous. I've opened a dispute with my credit card company. FRAUD ALERT, AVOID! This owner is dishonest and may scam you if given the chance.

The only thing keeping this from a five-star stay was the limited hot water. Otherwise, the price was great, the rooms were clean, and the bathrooms were spacious. The new owners have done a great job, and I slept in one of the most comfortable hotel beds I've ever tried. Pets stay free, too. We'll come back.

They couldn't find our online booking reservation, but quickly found a way to accommodate us. The room was secure, very clean, and in good repair. The AC worked a bit too well. I spent the night with a throbbing headache, scratchy throat, and nausea from whatever strong perfume they used in the room. I only slept a few hours because of that toxic stuff. There was no water pressure, the water was warm rather than hot, and there was no coffee in the morning. If you're sensitive to chemicals or have breathing issues, don't stay here.

Clean, comfortable, friendly, and an excellent value. It's a little off the main road where the other hotels are, so I took off a star for location. The new owner is working to improve the place in every way. I'd recommend this hotel.
