Renaissance Walnut Creek Hotel

Both mornings, I had a really good breakfast at the restaurant. The food was very good, and I also enjoyed being able to use The Bay Club. The room was clean and nice, and the staff were extremely helpful. I had an excellent stay and will definitely return next time I’m in Walnut Creek.

The extra $116.40 charged to my credit card without authorization was only discovered after I called to ask about the bill. They corrected it and refunded the money, but it worries me that the error could have gone unnoticed if I hadn’t checked. We also paid an extra $27 each for the breakfast buffet, and the food quality and selection were disappointing. It was the worst hotel buffet I’ve had. When we arrived, there was only one bathrobe for two people. We called the front desk to ask for another, waited more than 30 minutes, then had to go there ourselves and ask again. The bathtub drain was broken and wouldn’t close, so we requested a room change. The drain in the new room didn’t work at all either. The carpets and walls were dirty and worn, though that alone wasn’t a deal breaker. Taken together, it was a very bad stay. I wouldn’t come back.

I stay here for the gym, but the hotel and its customer service are awful. We’re platinum members and don’t ask for upgrades or anything. We called room service for a bottle of wine we were going to pay for, and Tarfiq insisted they don’t deliver bottles to rooms, even though wine was listed on the room service menu. It’s the same nonsense every time we stay, with the same clueless service. They need to hire more professional people.

Bed bugs in the bed. I told the staff, but they were indifferent and rude, with no real help or accountability. The cleanliness is seriously concerning. I absolutely wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone.
