Holiday Inn Express Conyers by IHG

The room was spotless, and as someone very picky who notices the details, I found this the cleanest Holiday Inn Express I've stayed in. The 3-11 p.m. front desk agent was sweet and helpful, and I'll definitely stay again when I'm working nearby. The daytime agent who checked me in seemed annoyed that I was interrupting her time on her phone, and she was awful to a kind police officer behind me in line. I'm glad the evening employee, whose name I didn't catch, was so good and made up for the poor service at check-in.

The room itself was clean, breakfast service was good, and the gym was clean. When we first got in, though, there was a foul smell from the bathroom. Fortunately, it went away after we turned on the A/C. The main reason for my low rating was one front desk employee's poor customer service. We asked twice for clean towels and were told none were available. That was the one time I hadn't brought any along.

That call was the worst part. Someone I believe was the events manager rang me and immediately started telling me what I had to do, saying we were acting like animals and had to leave the lobby right away. She said the manager had FaceTimed her and was very upset. I tried to explain, but she kept talking over me and calling us animals. I wasn't even in the lobby; our soccer group was waiting there for pizza for a few boys. Earlier, the manager, an older Black woman, had come over and yelled at the boys and parents. The young woman at the desk had been great, though. The hotel itself is fine, nothing special, and it's in a decent spot near shops and restaurants. Breakfast was really good. Still, it was a rude experience, and I wouldn't recommend staying here or come back.

Housekeeping deserves a thank you: the property and room were clean, especially after the awful experience we had at Avid down the road. The rest was a letdown. There was no working Wi-Fi the whole stay, and breakfast amounted to a few sausages and some tater tots. No cinnamon rolls, and the pancake machine was out of order too. Also, the woman at the desk was smoking right in front of the automatic entrance door, which felt really unprofessional.
