Rm 139, Conyers, 3 in the morning 🤦 #JustTurnOffYourOwnWater No thanks. Apparently, if you rent a room here, bring your own universal remote and extra batteries, and be ready to do a bit of light mechanical work. Most of all, bring Raid. If you’re having anything delivered, mark it “HAND IT TO ME” for safety, because Casper the friendly ghost might fly off with it.

I checked in, then left pretty quickly because the motel didn’t meet a basic standard of service. The exterior, staircases, and even the beds were dirty. At least they refunded the full amount.

There was no working door lock in the replacement room. Its secondary lock was missing, and the U-shaped chain latch was barely attached. When I flipped it over, it fell into my hand. The door was dented and had broken or missing hardware, as if it had been kicked in repeatedly. I badly needed a shower, so while police drove through the parking lot, I took a quick one despite the safety risk, loaded my luggage, and left. I’d arrived late and found my assigned room’s door open, with one person sitting outside by the curb and another inside. I went straight back to the desk. The clerk checked, called the police, apologized, and gave me the room next door, saying it was the first time that had happened. I should’ve asked for a refund, but I hate arguing, especially when it seems the hotel already knew there was a problem and rented the room anyway. They won’t admit fault, and they clearly don’t care about guests’ safety. I’m writing this so others can avoid a place with serious safety issues. I believe they were remodeling the front, but renting rooms in that condition is bad business.

The room did have a full-size fridge, and the air conditioning worked well, but we won’t stay here again. Next time I’ll pay more for a different hotel. I knew choosing a cheaper place might mean lower quality, but this was worse than I expected. My 13-year-old son and I came from Florida for the Vampire Diaries convention in Covington in March. I’m a newly widowed mom of two teenagers, and money was already tight. We got a room with two beds, but one had pubic hair all over it and clearly hadn’t been washed. I’d luckily brought sheets from home, so we spread those over the bed and managed to share it. The shower never got hot. At one point, holding the handle up made the water lukewarm, but that meant trying to shower with one hand. There was candle wax on the ceiling and a smear on the bathroom wall that might have been blood or feces. Those were the only things I liked about the room.
