The room itself had a leaking sink, so I had to brush my teeth in the bathtub. The fridge barely got cold, and the microwave was too nasty to use. The beds had cigarette burns, and there were no fitted sheets, just top sheets and a thin layer that looked a little fancier for the comforter. The place is run down. I’d asked for a non-smoking room when I booked but was given a smoking room anyway. I was traveling with my two dogs. After we returned dirty towels, one of which my kid had spilled something on and neither of which the dogs had used, the manager knocked to inspect the room. Fine, do your room check. But the next day he came back saying someone had seen cats and that we’d be charged extra. You’d just been in my room the day before, sir, and there were no cats. When I asked for proof, he walked away. They put us at the very back of the property, with one way in and one way out. There wasn’t even room to back in and unload. I’ll accept losing my measly $50 deposit if they can show proof of an animal I didn’t mention at check-in. I have two dogs, and the manager had already been in the room. If the service doesn’t improve, this place won’t last long in town.
The staff are friendly, and Carlos on the night shift is always helpful and the best. My room is always fresh and clean, and I’ve never had a problem. I recommend this hotel whenever it’s convenient for someone.
At about 12:15 a.m., people in a room a few doors away were so loud that my dog kept barking and I couldn’t sleep. I thought about leaving, but I was exhausted and had a 12-hour drive starting in four hours. Worst night’s sleep ever. I’m adding photos of all the linens they gave me. Gross. I’d seen lots of reviews and a 7.1 on booking.com, so I expected a little more. The parking lot was extremely chaotic. My non-smoking room reeked of smoke, the bedding was covered in stains, and the AC was falling apart and extremely dirty. As a woman staying alone, I’d hoped to feel more at ease, but I wouldn’t recommend it.
We had to leave because of a family emergency, and we didn’t know how long it would last. I went back for the food we’d left in the refrigerator, but the old man told me we’d already taken our things. I said we hadn’t, but he still wouldn’t give back what little of my deposit was left. He kept it and added a $40 charge, then said I still owed $15 for late fees and things like that. I don’t get paid until after the first, and they somewhat seemed willing to work with me, but after that they complained that we had to leave because he wasn’t getting any more money from us. We’d stayed there long enough to feel like tenants. I do some Ubering and Spark work on the side, but that’s hard, and I’m almost always running out of gas. We had the family emergency come up, so I won’t be going back for a while. I wouldn’t recommend this place for a good long time unless you really have to.
The place is old and worn, lol, but we keep coming back. We’ve stayed at this same location for over 17 years, several times a year when we’re in Cookeville, sometimes for a week or two. The staff have always been nicer than nice and accommodating. It’s quiet, right in town, and close to everything on foot. It works well for us as a home away from home.
