The Inn at Priest Lake

It was so quiet that sleeping was easy, and the room stayed clean and smelled nice the whole time. Mara was especially kind and helpful. The staff were friendly, and one of the cleaning ladies was really personable, which feels rare. I would’ve liked the option of blackout curtains, though not having them did make it easier to get up early.

I shared an RV spot with my sister, who had a pickup and kayak trailer, while I had a van. There was plenty of space for us, and the grassy areas were lovely. Every spot had full hookups. It was quiet, and the bathrooms were clean and secure. I’d happily stay there again. Happy summer, everyone!

The value and location were good enough that I rounded my rating up, though I’d put it at 3 1/2 stars otherwise. The rooms feel a bit old-fashioned, but the beds are comfortable. We enjoyed our stay overall. The woman at the front counter could have been friendlier.

Cindy, the Inn manager, gave us an excellent welcome. The trouble started when we walked into our non-smoking room and were hit by a strong cigarette smell. I have serious asthma and couldn’t stay in that air. There were no other rooms available, so Cindy brought an ozonator, said the air would be clear in half an hour, and asked us to leave for a while. We went to dinner and came back three hours later, but the room was still intolerable. We waited in the lobby playing cards, and it took about five hours before we could safely go in. After a lovely day around Priest Lake, we returned the next day to find the room reeking of smoke again. We wanted to shower and relax before dinner, but ended up borrowing the ozonator and going out sweaty and frustrated. The room still wasn’t safe to enter afterward. My husband went in to get our swimsuits, but the community restrooms were gated off after 6 pm. We couldn’t use our room, go swimming, or change in the community room. Cindy wasn’t available when we checked out the next morning, so I left a note asking her to call me when she returned on Monday. She didn’t call. When I reached her on Thursday, she responded very coldly and said she’d speak to the owner that day and get back to me. Several days passed with no answer. There was no follow-up or customer service, and nothing was done after the initial concern. In response to Cindy’s reply, the smoke issue was not merely perceived. Cindy agreed the room smelled like smoke and was upset that a previous guest had ignored the rules. The smell took hours to clear, and we were displaced from the room both nights because it returned after the room was closed up again on the second day. Her response doesn’t make me want to return, and it doesn’t suggest that she spoke with the owner. Very disappointing service.
