The Hayden Creek Inn

Austin, the innkeeper, made us laugh and feel right at home from the moment we walked in. He was warm, super funny, and made a real effort to see that we were comfortable. Getting a bunch of teenagers to laugh wholeheartedly is no small feat, and we all loved him. I was looking for somewhere to stay while my son played baseball at Cooperstown Dreams Park, and I had no idea we'd find such a special experience at Hayden Creek Inn. The room was comfortable to come back to after a day at the park. The creek is beautiful, and dipping our toes in was such fun. It was nice to wake up to breakfast before heading out. The whole visit felt magical. Whether you're here for baseball, the opera, or just to enjoy this gorgeous part of NY, I highly recommend the inn. You won't want to leave, and the memories will make you want to cartwheel whenever you think of them.

We stayed for a week and loved the creek, with wildflowers around it and crayfish and other fish nibbling at our feet. The drive to Cooperstown was scenic and picturesque. Our room was comfortable, though not fancy, and the continental breakfast changed every couple of days. This is a gem in the rough. If you're after a 5-star hotel, this isn't for you. But for a comfortable, quiet stay with a homey, natural feel, it's the place.

The rooms are still being updated, but the hosts and their service are what set this rustic little place apart. They welcomed us with chocolates and were friendly every time we saw them, with plenty of helpful service throughout. It was exactly what we needed, and I can't say enough. I wouldn't stay anywhere else!

We were there for a short weekend, and the first room smelled musty. The air conditioner rattled badly, and two drunk people outside were very noisy. In the second room, the shower door wouldn't close. The breakfast was disappointing too. The cereal was very old, not what I'd expect from a continental breakfast. All of that might have been fine if the owner hadn't waited 3 to 4 weeks and charged money, which is illegal. I've also noticed that when other people post poor reviews, they get taken down.
