The staff were nice, but the room itself felt unhealthy and unsafe, and I won't stay again. Mold covered the sheer curtains, the bathroom corners looked long uncleaned, and the heater/AC was plugged into a box lying on the floor instead of an outlet in the wall. There was nowhere to hang clothes, and the extra pillows we asked for never arrived, even though we were told they would. We stayed February 20-22 after the casino was booked. I'd never had a bad stay at a Red Lion before, so I assumed this one would be fine. I was wrong.

The whole stay went downhill after an easy check-in and good service. My key card wouldn't open the door, though my roommate's worked after a couple of tries. Once inside, I caught a smell and realized it was cat urine. The small TV barely got a picture, and the shower head broke as soon as I turned it on. My coworkers' room next door had no TV and most outlets had no power, but at least it didn't smell. We wanted to try the Indian place by the lobby, but the front desk said it was taking a long time to open, so we ate at the food truck area a couple of blocks away, which was great. When we got back, neither key card worked. New cards didn't help, and even a master card failed. An employee came out and couldn't get in either, so she called the handyman. We sat on the curb for an hour before he arrived. The lock seemed broken, and after trying everything, he literally broke the door down. I thought we'd get another room, but the replacement had no power and no TV. At least it didn't smell like cat urine, so that was sort of an upgrade. This was easily my worst hotel experience. It was my first business trip with coworkers, and we didn't want our boss, who was with us, to get annoyed, so we decided to put up with it and share his bed.

The bathroom was filthy, and there was so much dust and mold in the room. If they have a cleaning person, she isn't cleaning anything. It's way overpriced. I wish I'd slept in my car instead.

The front desk gentleman was cheerful and helpful at check-in, but the room had a strong mildew smell and no heat on when we arrived in December. There was no shower curtain, leaving the floor slippery, and I had to wait a long time for warm water in the past. The hot and cold controls are reversed, too. Red Lion is supposed to be a reputable, high-end hotel, but that wasn't our experience.

The service was awful, and getting a room with air conditioning took three tries. The first room had no power; the second had no AC and no light in the main bedroom. In the last room, the AC was mounted high on the wall, so the heat stayed up there. None of the rooms had bedding. The online booking came with no refund, either. A great way to waste your money, and a reminder never to return to Red Line Hotel. Somehow worse than Dark Souls 2, and even the catacombs in DS1 had more charm.
