The one bright spot was the hard-working maintenance man, who did his best to fix problems even though he didn’t have the parts. The hot tub was out of order while waiting on parts, which was one of the main reasons we chose this hotel. My wife needed to soak and ease the pressure in her back before a medical procedure, and we’d even bought new bathing suits for the trip. We’d booked weeks ahead because her procedure was at the hospital across from the hotel. We specifically asked for a room away from elevators and stairs because of the noise, since she needed a quiet place to rest afterward. Instead, our room was right across from two elevators, the machine rooms, and storage rooms. There was a second bedroom door that we hoped would block the noise, but it didn’t. The air conditioner didn’t work because the thermostat was hanging off the wall, leaving a hole you could see through into the next room. Maintenance got it somewhat working, but parts had to be ordered. We asked to change rooms and were told they were “sold out.” The shower head was broken too, and they had no spare parts. The maintenance man took one from a “vacant” room across the hall, but it was only a little better and the water pressure still wasn’t good. After our third call to the front desk, they offered to check for another room the next morning. I explained that my wife had her procedure then, so we could only move before it or to a room on the same floor. I contacted Hotels.com customer service, and they advocated for a refund for the first night. The staff took that badly and were hateful and extremely rude for the rest of our stay. The next day, around 11:30, they told us to pack everything and move three floors down within half an hour so they could clean and turn over the room. I’d already explained my wife couldn’t move after her procedure, so we politely declined. They responded with a snide remark and a nasty reminder that we’d already been refunded for one night and that was the last thing they’d do for us if we stayed. The noise from the elevators and machine room, cleaners yelling to each other in the halls, and three screaming kids running wild in the room next door pushed my patience to the limit. Breakfast was bland, stale, and poor quality. The only things I could really eat were a few pieces of fresh fruit and the make-your-own waffles. After my wife posted an honest review, they rudely tried to blame us by saying we’d declined to move. We won’t stay here again and I’d avoid the place. There are better options at better prices, and I’m sure their staff are nowhere near as rude or hateful.
We’ve stayed here a few times every year since it opened more than 10 years ago, and always liked it. But our last two visits, in October and November this year, showed how far the place has gone downhill. The rooms feel old and worn, especially the furniture and carpets, and after more than a decade without updates, we’re ready to find another hotel. We love the location, though. Our latest visit was especially frustrating. The first room had a filthy bathroom and toilet, so staff moved us right away. The next room smelled of smoke, and in the third, the best of the three, dead flies were stuck to the wall above the sink and scattered around. Staff were understanding and accommodating, but moving all our things between three rooms in one night was a pain. We asked for cleaning the next day. They changed the towels and sheets, but left the flies, and we kept stepping on things on the carpet. We were told we’d get 30% off for the trouble, but the discount wasn’t on the bill when we checked out.
I travel about half the year and stay in a lot of hotels. This Hilton was clean and quiet, and the check-in staff were great. They left me alone afterward, which is exactly what I like when traveling. There are plenty of shops and things to visit nearby, though not many places to eat within walking distance, which wasn’t a deal breaker for me. Good location, cleanliness, staff, and amenities. I wasn’t disappointed.
The location worked perfectly, with most things close by, and it’s a good option for either a short or longer stay. The hot tub was great, breakfast was awesome, and the breakfast staff were polite and professional. My room was exceptional, and the front desk went above and beyond. They handled all my needs promptly. Fabulous hotel.
Taylor at the counter was really friendly and nice. The rooms are pleasant, though a little dated in my opinion, and the breakfast has good options. I’d still give the place five stars. The downside is parking costs $5 per night for each car.
