Lux Hotel

The nearby clean, friendly Comfort Suites was easy to book, and thankfully we managed to get a refund through hotels.com. We didn’t read the negative reviews until after paying and booking there. Our confirmation email said check-in was 5pm - 12 am, but we reached the hotel at 8pm to find two cars in the lot and no one at the desk. Nobody answered our calls for an hour. When a man finally showed up at 9pm, he rudely said he’d cancelled our reservation and given away the room because we hadn’t arrived by 6pm. With only two cars in the parking lot, that seemed like a blatant lie. He yelled when we pointed out the email’s check-in hours, insisting he could give our room away and falsely claiming we hadn’t been charged. He wouldn’t check us in or refund our card. Though hotels.com eventually refunded us, the man still charged us for a room he refused to provide. DON’T BOOK. IT’S A SCAM.

We left in the morning after I spotted a huge cockroach while getting out of the shower. The fire alarm had already been beeping when we arrived, and their son came in, removed it from the wall, set it on the TV, and said connecting it to the wall was the “back-up.” I thought the batteries were supposed to be the backup. The family’s kids were behind the desk with toys in the lobby while the woman tried to check us in. After we packed up and left, I tried to speak with someone at the desk, but no one was there or came by. I left my email and never heard back. Expedia tried to get our money returned, but the lux hotel refused, saying the booking was non-refundable and they made no exceptions. This was easily the worst hotel I’ve stayed in. It was disgusting, and the customer service was terrible.

The owner and his wife are really kind, which made the stay much more pleasant. The remodel has made the place feel so much more elegant, and the beds are huge and comfortable. The TV gives you that home theater feeling, while the hotel still has a cozy, homey vibe. I can only imagine how classy the lounge will be when it opens. It’s a nice addition to Cordele. 10 out of 5 stars for these guys!

Good place to stop overnight, and the room was clean with a nice TV. A few things were missing or not working: no bath soap, one side of the light above the sink was out, and there were no instructions for the coffeemaker. Staff weren’t easy to reach, and there wasn’t a phone in the room to call them.
