Best Western Plus Corning Inn

The grounds are lovely, with mature trees, flowering aloe, bushes, roses, and a big grassy field. Around the corner of the building, eucalyptus trees shade a tucked-away patio and pergola with a seating nook and fragrant roses, just outside the pool and jacuzzi window. This reasonably priced, congenial, clean little town Best Western deserves its Plus and Best. It's about 25 minutes from the Sacramento National Wildlife Refuge, where many kinds of birds gather in winter and during migration. I posted photos of the precise way housekeeping made the bed, with the sheets untucked.

Once we switched rooms, everything was fine, but the first one had a broken AC and the odd guy at the front desk didn't know what to do. I had to ask directly for a different room. It was also frustrating that none of the room cleaners spoke English when we tried to ask for more towels or service. I guess that's expected in California. The place itself was okay.

There were more than eight pubic hairs in my bed. Gross, but I was too tired to get up, and I hope I don't end up with bugs or pink eye. The sheet was unwashed and had holes in it, and the carpet looked suspiciously fungusy. At least the soap smells nice. P.S. The hairs aren't mine.

It's a great hotel, close to family and really easy to get to. The breakfast and amenities were nice, and the pool and fitness room were super clean. The laundry room only has one washer and two dryers. Washing costs about $3, and drying costs $1.50 for a mostly dry load.
