Comfort Inn Corning

The room was roomy and clean, and the staff were accommodating. They brought us an extra blanket and bottled water, and breakfast was good. Tea and coffee were available all day and tasted very good. We had a restful, relaxing stay and felt it was good value.

There’s no elevator, and the hotel feels dated, but the rooms are spacious and the service is good for the price. The front desk woman deserves a special mention: she put breakfast out early so we could eat before getting back on the road. People like that make you want to return.

This is a good hotel, but the chain now uses pillows that are only half size, and they bothered me when I was trying to sleep. Saving money that way doesn’t help guests who need a decent, proper pillow. It feels like the owners care about profit more than the comfort of the people staying there.

The only real plus was being a couple of streets from the Corning Glass Museum. The website pictures don’t show this place at all. The stairway was filthy, the pool had green residue or mold around its side, and the towels were paper thin. The bathroom sink had a repaired crack. There was no internet or cable TV, just a DVD player, and both the second-floor soda machine and the ice machine were broken. The heater and AC kept turning on and shutting off, and the floor beneath them was wet. I was very disappointed and won’t be back.
