Hitching Post Country Motel

I stayed over Thanksgiving weekend in 2024 after my water pump failed and left me without water. Everything nearby was booked, so I paid $150 a night for the holiday. The room was frighteningly cramped: the bed was set diagonally, and I had to sidestep to get to the tiny bathroom. The shower was so small I couldn't reach all of myself to wash, and cobwebs hanging from its ceiling brushed my hair while I crouched to avoid them and wash my legs. There was also some kind of bug nest on the headboard, which I asked them to remove. My bed didn't have a mattress pad, either. The owner seemed barely interested in whether guests were comfortable. I can't understand how anyone calls this a five-star place. It's a complete dump.

Streetlight came through the door all night, and the shower was so cramped I could barely use it. There wasn't any coffee or breakfast, either. Not a great place to stay.

There's no coffee at the motel, though West Cornwall Market is a five-minute walk away and has great breakfasts. For coffee before 8 AM, the Citgo Station is a ten-minute walk and has the best fresh-ground coffee around. The motel itself has the basics, including AC, a fridge, TV, and microwave. It's clean, and it's the only choice in the area.

I wasn't sure the blankets had been changed, so I avoided sleeping under them. The shower hadn't been cleaned when we arrived, with the previous guest's hair still all over it. On the second night we found a very old, moldy piece of pizza inside the microwave, and the mini fridge was dirty too. There was no coffee maker, iron, hair dryer, or similar usual room amenity.
