La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Corpus Christi Northwest

The rooms are roomy and clean, and breakfast came with hot coffee and Texas-shaped waffles you make yourself. I called first to check how many people the room could hold, and the front desk was friendly and helpful. Booking was easy. Thanks, we’ll be back.

The room and desk service were excellent, and at $58 plus tax the price was reasonable. Breakfast had decent choices, except for the omelet on our last morning. This is an older hotel with some modern touches. The humidity in Corpus Christi seems to need better control: the carpet and tile felt damp, especially in the bathroom. There wasn’t a ventilation fan, just a mirror defogger button. I’d come back if I were in a pinch.

The rooms are nice and big, but the beds are old, the water pressure is almost nonexistent, and the hallways are hot. Breakfast was okay: I liked the waffle and potatoes, but the chorizo and egg mix was really cold. Luckily there’s a microwave in the room. I checked in after 7 pm. The young front desk staff were neither friendly nor rude, just okay. I think they put the white people on the third floor.

For the price, it was good, though our room was dirty. There was a smear on the mirror, an oily ring on the end table, dirt caked on the lamp base, and curtains falling down. The staff were friendly and helpful, and breakfast was the best I’ve had. At 11 pm, someone who wasn’t staying there parked outside our room and blasted music for over 30 minutes. I called downstairs, security went out, and the person left. Big thanks to the front desk and security guard.
