Red Roof Inn Cortland

The room rate was great, but unfortunately our room wasn't clean: there were bed bugs on the mattress. Nelson and Angella were both very helpful when we told them and immediately arranged to move us to their sister hotel next door. That place was much cleaner and more updated, and they let us keep the upgrade. Since we'd booked through Expedia, they couldn't refund us for the inconvenience.

I was traveling with my adult grandson and his nine-year-old twin girls, and I had called the Cortland NY Inn in advance to confirm we'd have two double beds and an extra cot ready. When we arrived, there was no cot in the room, and I was told they had none available. Then we found just two towels, one bar of facial soap, and a nearly empty bottle of shower gel. I went to the desk for more. The clerk gave me extra towels and washcloths but no shower gel, though luckily I had brought soap. The clerk was friendly, but didn't seem concerned that we were having these problems. I was very unhappy with the stay and won't come back or recommend this place.

Our first room reeked of cigarette smoke, so we asked to switch. The second room smelled better, but its broken curtain let light into the room early in the morning. The toilet was clogged at first, though I managed to fix it myself with some time and patience. The hallways and outside of the building looked run down, as did the facility in general. I didn't feel it was safe for my son to leave the room, which probably sums up the stay best. I called the Red Roof to tell them about my experience, but they had no interest in hearing about it, so I'm leaving this review.

The beds were so comfortable that after sleeping really well the first night, I even napped the next afternoon. The room was super clean and smelled nice. My phone didn't work, but that wasn't a big deal. The TV only picked up Christian stations, so I watched movies on my phone instead. It was a pleasant stay and all the staff were nice. Lindsy, the housekeeper, was friendly and helpful. Not a bad place if you're after a comfy bed and a good night's sleep.
