The room was decent and the location made it easy to reach popular places. The overnight front desk woman was great. I’d spoken with her on the phone days before the reservation, and she was extremely helpful, including at check-in. The daytime front desk woman was another story. My wife and I each called between 3 and 5 p.m. with a question, and she had an attitude and wasn’t helpful or accommodating. I don’t know her name, so I can’t file a complaint against her specifically. If we hadn’t already paid, I would have gone somewhere else because of that call. She needs to learn how to treat guests.

The room was spacious and appeared clean and neat, though it was on the older side. We liked having a fridge, microwave, coffee pot, and plenty of places to sit, with a table and chairs as well as a desk and chair. The chairs were only comfortable enough, and the pillows were worn out and shapeless. The bed was okay, somewhere in the middle of the ones we’ve had. There was an iron but no ironing board. We didn’t try breakfast, so I can’t comment on it. Our room wasn’t ready when we arrived. The receptionist said we’d get a call when it was, but no one called. We went back after an hour and it was available. The reception staff were pleasant, and the place is near shops, restaurants, the beach, and the freeway. We’d stay again if we’re in the area.

The room was filthy, with holes in the comforters and carpets, peeling wallpaper, and a disgusting chair. While we were out, maid service took off our sheets without replacing them and tossed our belongings aside. There was apparently no supervisor available to discuss our concerns, and the front desk person was extremely rude when we tried. This is the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. I’ll never come back and don’t recommend it.

I’m giving it two stars only because it was cheap and close to the beaches. We needed two rooms near each other because my kids were in a separate room, so my wife and I ended up in a smoking room. I was worried about that, but didn’t have another choice. The carpet had burns, which I understand in a smoking room, but the room was dirty beyond that. We went to sleep early the first night and noticed more the next day: what looked like blood on the wall, puke on the curtains, patched wallpaper everywhere, outlets that didn’t work, a broken bathroom air vent, and dirty walls and floors. Police were called on one guest, and shady people were hanging around or staying at the hotel. That, along with the room condition, makes this Days Inn one I wouldn’t recommend. We’ve stayed at a couple of other Days Inn before and were very satisfied, so this was a letdown.
