ROBERT J.
This motel is pretty basic, and at over $200 it was by far the priciest stop on our road trip, even though we booked it at the last minute just like our other hotels. We only picked it because there were no Marriott options left. The room smelled bad, the parking didn't feel secure, and there were no amenities. Unless a big event is pushing prices up in a major city, that kind of rate feels unreasonable for a place this old and simple. I would have preferred to stay somewhere else or drive to another town. I still wouldn't give it one star. A small family business could turn the experience around with better cleaning, gates to secure the parking, some gardening and fresh paint, work on the rooms, and nicer towels and bed sheets. Those changes could bring in better feedback. It felt like a 2-3 star stay, but I gave four stars keeping the small business in mind.

The main problem for me was trying to sleep in a hot room without A/C. It would help to have a fan available for the window, though I realize supplying 50+ fans isn't easy. With the area feeling sketchy, I didn't feel comfortable leaving the door or window open overnight for a breeze, so I'd avoid staying here in summer if possible. There is heat for winter, at least. The bed was decently comfortable, the room pretty clean, and the woman at the front desk was very sweet and accommodating. The shower pressure was great, and Taco Bell is just a short walk away. It's not a fancy hotel, and felt a bit pricey for what you get, though maybe that's because it was Labor Day weekend and everywhere cost more. All in all, it was a fine place to get a bed for the night.

The carpet was dirty, the furniture dated, and there wasn't much nearby to see or do. It was fine when I needed somewhere at the last minute in an emergency, but don't book online. Even with plenty of empty rooms, they take advantage of last-minute bookings and you can end up paying $200 a night for a run-down motel room. If it's your only option, go in and book in person.

The beds weren't comfortable, and the pillows felt like bricks. The shower was a plus, with hot water and a strong flow, especially if you like long showers. The toilet flushed slowly, though, and I'd worry about a big BM backing up the plumbing. The TV worked well enough. There's no view, since it's on the main strip and only two floors. This is a simple place in a small town near Redwood National Park, where finding 5-Star lodging may be a surprise. There are lots of little motel-style places around town, and this one is an unsurprising basic option for people watching their budget. If you're used to a Marriott Residence Inn or want more amenities, you could be disappointed. The room looks clean at first glance, but a closer look suggests it needs more TLC (tender, loving, care). It's not updated and shows wear and tear.

They discriminate against military people and people with disabilities. They spray bug spray without 24 hr. Notice and offer no accommodations. They also run off anyone helping you because of a disability, such as by not allowing help, visitors, or company, depending on who you are.
