The plants throughout Elk Mountain Lodge make such a difference, especially in the darker corners. Getting around is easy too: the bus to mountain village stops about a block and a half away, so you can leave the car parked and walk or ride where you need to go. The rooms are charming and cleverly arranged, though the small size can make it tricky to move around, particularly in a third-floor room. The staff are warm and helpful, and seem to genuinely enjoy their work. It’s a cozy, striking place with plenty of convenience, and I’d recommend giving Elk Mountain a try.

We’ve returned to Elk Mountain Lodge many times, and this stay was among our best. We were in the smallest room, but it had what we needed and stayed pleasantly warm overnight. Eric looked after every request with a cheerful, efficient manner. The whole team was friendly and attentive, with good ideas for things to do, and made us feel at home. Staying here always makes our time in Crested Butte memorable.

A quiet neighborhood, just a three-block walk from downtown, and a well-kept old lodge. We came on friends’ recommendation for our first stay and were glad we did. There’s lots of space to sit and lounge downstairs, the bed and bedding were comfortable, and the staff were very friendly. Breakfast was much better than average, and the price felt reasonable for this area.

We walked into town every day and felt completely safe. The hosts were kind and helpful, and both the room and food were wonderful. We loved our stay at Elk Mountain Lodge and would happily come back.

The rooms were lovely, and since we were the only guests, we could use the living and kitchen areas freely. It felt almost like having a whole home. The place is a little outside town, though, and we heard highway noise. Maybe a higher river would cover some of it.
