The peace around Pioneer Guest Cabins was exactly what we were hoping for. We’d been put off by loud, self-centered visitors elsewhere around Crested Butte, but this place felt reverent and quiet, with a real sense of tranquility outdoors. The cabins are historic, traditional, cozy, romantic, and serene. The hosts are fantastic, the amenities are adequate, and we were very comfortable. Just remember, it’s a mountain cabin. If you’re using reviews to decide, I’d say you’re looking at a gem and would highly recommend it. And don’t forget to make friends with Buck (The dog), though he’ll probably find you first. Thanks, Pioneer Guest Cabins, for hosting us Floridians. We left this morning and have just arrived in Telluride this afternoon.

We loved having our dog with us at Pioneer Guest Cabins. There were trails to explore just steps from our cabin, and the setting was stunning. Watching hummingbirds outside our window was lovely, and the hot tub by the river was great.

We only had two nights at Pioneer Guest Cabins near Crested Butte and wished we could have stayed longer. The cabin had everything we needed to cook and be comfortable, and the hosts were friendly and wonderful. There are beautiful trails nearby, great for hiking with our dog. Definitely worth checking out.

The owners clearly care about the land and where they live. We could tell from talking with them that they’re environmentally respectful and want to look after the area. We had no cell service, though every cabin has wifi in case disconnecting makes you panic. My husband even got in a little fly fishing at the creek before we went hiking. We loved our stay and will be back. This was my second time at Pioneer Guest Cabins. My girlfriend and I first came on a girls trip a couple of years ago, and I wanted my husband to experience it too. We stayed a couple of days to hike around Crested Butte in Doubletop. The cabin was clean, comfortable, decorated, and had everything we needed. It’s small compared with modern hotel rooms, but it’s a cabin, so it isn’t meant to be huge. There was a gas fireplace, a wood stove, and a fire pit with a picnic bench. You can borrow games, books, and puzzles from the office. Best of all, there’s a shared hot tub with a heated changing shack beside it.

The only drawback was the road into the property, which is pitted and could be very rough for a low clearance vehicle. Otherwise, this place was fantastic and I highly recommend it. The small cabins have all the essentials, including an indoor wood stove, fire pit, and a little kitchen with dishes, utensils, and appliances. Great hiking trails are nearby, and downtown Crested Butte proper is about 20 minutes away.
