Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Lincoln Crete

The understaffing made the stay frustrating and disorganized. One employee was trying to cover the front desk, guest requests, and other duties, so check-in, checkout, and even basic help took far too long. The person working was clearly doing their best, but asking one person to juggle all of that while still providing good service isn’t fair or reasonable. I understand staffing problems can happen, but there seemed to be no support in place. Management needs to address it. The lack of staff affected the whole experience and reflects badly on the hotel and its management, while creating needless stress for guests and employees.

The employees were friendly enough, but didn't seem well trained or led. The whole stay felt like whoever owns or runs this place isn't paying attention to even basic details. There aren't many other places to stay in Crete, but next time we'll drive from south Lincoln instead. It's not too far, and we won't stay here again. Our room had several problems. Some outlets didn't work, neither bedside light came on, and reporting the lights to the front desk didn't get them fixed. The TV froze and stuttered on every channel. The HVAC setup, with a wall thermostat and separate controls on the unit, was confusing because the controls seemed to conflict. On our king bed, the mattress pad and comforter seemed queen-sized and didn't reach the edges. The sheets were tucked strangely under the otherwise exposed comforter near the foot, so we basically had to remake the bed. The public areas weren't clean either. The elevator floor had a visible sticky substance and debris in one corner throughout our stay, and the lobby and hallways also looked unattended. Breakfast was the usual kind of food, but with less choice than normal. There was a bowl supposedly for fruit with one apple in it, the same apple that had been there the night before.

We’ve been here three or four times in the last year, and the location works well for us. The rooms have been okay, though the showers are unpredictable. In today’s room, the spray goes everywhere except on you. Oddly, none of the rooms we’ve had has had a working bathroom fan.

Sam at the front desk was sweet, funny, and polite. She checked in with us about our stay and pointed out nearby places for food and coffee. The location is handy too, with a gas station and Scooters within walking distance, and Walmart and the hospital very close by.
