Quality Inn Cromwell - Middletown

There was mold everywhere, and the room was nasty. The heater had no power, but the desk refused to move me and said I'd have to wait until the next day for someone to check it. I was booked for one night, and at least 70% of the rooms looked open. We had 7 of the 15 rooms booked, and the rest of the hotel seemed empty. After nearly 20 minutes of arguing with the desk in the middle of the night while freezing, they finally moved me. This place is trash, and I'll never come back. They don't care. It takes a lot for me to leave a bad review, but this is the worst place I've ever stayed. Don't waste your time or money.

For a tired traveler needing one night in Cromwell, I'd happily stay here again. The rooms are huge for the price and the beds are comfortable. The air conditioners supposedly not keeping up? That's a joke. The elevator is currently broken, and it's not a dream hotel, so I wouldn't go out of my way to book it. But if I happened to be in Cromwell, I'd stay here. I was very satisfied.

Don't do it. This is the first review I've ever written, but the place was that bad. The rooms were filthy, the elevator was broken, and things looked badly maintained, including broken drawers. There were literal poop stains and hair on the wall by the toilet, like someone had wiped their dirty hands there. This isn't anywhere close to a 3-star hotel. Worst place I've stayed. Save yourself the headache and go somewhere else.

I just wanted a decent place to sleep for what I paid, and maybe a bowl of cheap cereal in the morning. Instead I didn't sleep at all. The AC made a noise every 30 seconds like some giant rubbing its hands together. The lock was broken, and the elevator still didn't work. The room itself kept me awake, even though I'd expected hallway and road noise. Hotels need to offer comfort, darkness, and quiet. I wish I could give the room zero stars, though at least the roof kept the rain off us. The lighting and window setup made it impossible to get proper darkness. The pull-down shades didn't meet in the middle, so the outdoor lights kept shining in while we moved around. At 5 am, sunlight through the gap in the window had already made the room look like daylight. The bedroom lights were awful, with no shades to make things feel homey or safe. It felt like a police interrogation room, and getting up to use the bathroom meant waking everyone with blinding light. Warm lamps with shades and a proper curtain would have been much better than the modern look. There were cigarette burns and stains on the bedspreads, plus holes in the walls. When I called with a question, staff yelled at me. The rug was one of the ugliest pieces of fabric I've seen. Someone spent a lot of money making the night miserable. They should have had a mechanic check the AC instead of spending money on those updates. I could deal with the other issues if I could have slept. Honestly, I might as well have had us all sleep in the car. At least the roof kept the rain off, though I wouldn't put it past this hotel to mess that up too.
