Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, Crystal Lake, IL

Heim at the desk and Justen the Manager were both helpful, professional, and genuinely nice. My booking company hadn't sent through my extension, which added stress, and they helped sort it out. The maid service was kind and helpful too. The hotel was quiet and clean, and the mini fridge, mw, and coffee maker were all I needed. This is a 3'Star hotel, so it naturally lacks some things you'd find at a 4 or 5 Star place. I went elsewhere for breakfast because the eggs weren't good, and I would've preferred bacon to sausage. That's why I gave it 4 stars. I'm definitely coming back. Thanks to everyone.

The room smelled musty and the air didn't feel good. There was some unknown substance on the headboard, and the shower had an old bar of soap with pube hairs left on it. The pool looked gross on the bottom, and the hot tub wasn't much better. It was only lukewarm, the pool was ice cold, and both heaters were intentionally off. The hot tub also seemed to have way too many chemicals. Once it was turned on, you couldn't see the water clearly anymore. I don't know how this hotel has such high reviews, maybe they're paid for? I'd stay somewhere else.

We paid $540 for two nights, and the worn mattresses were awful. A 100-pound person could feel the slats on both beds, and the sofa was just as worn down. The mini fridge leaked so badly that we had to mop up the water with bath towels. For comfort, this was one of the worst stays I've had in 30 years of travel. We left early on checkout day. The hot breakfast was gross, with watery gravy and stale biscuits. The GM told me, "didn't you notice the trailer that was full of new mattresses?" That didn't make me happy. On the plus side, housekeeping had cleaned the room and bathroom very well, and the room on the 3rd floor was quiet. I won't be back.

We come to Crystal Lake regularly and always stay here. It's such a welcoming place, with friendly staff, a good free breakfast, and rooms that are always clean.
